About Oxford SU

In 2024/25 Oxford SU is going through a Transformation. We’re reviewing every aspect of what we do, why we do it and how we do it. We’re looking for innovative, creative and intellectual staff to support us through this process – people who can think big whilst also making sure that the day-to-day gets done.

Oxford SU is a student-led organisation. You’ll be working alongside exceptional elected leaders and student volunteers across a wide range of projects – balancing your experience and expertise with active student representation and input. We work in a high-support, high-challenge environment – we are a small and relatively flat staff team which means our staff use their initiative and work together as a high performing team. This stage of Transformation is due for review at the end of June 2025, after which we hope to be launching the next stage of the new Oxford SU.

About the Role

We are looking for two people to take on a pivotal role in delivering our free and independent advice service for students studying at the University of Oxford. In this position, you will provide students with the advice, tools and support they need to advocate for themselves. Our Advice Service deals with a wide range of procedures including academic progress and misconduct, complaints, disciplinary and appeals at both University and within Oxford’s 39 Colleges. Our casework is often complex, so we also provide access to as much self-guided support as possible, ensuring our Advisers have capacity to support cases where we can have the biggest impact.

As part of our Transformation programme we are ensuring that all of our work provides data and insight which can be used in policy analysis and development within the University or Colleges. Situated within a wider Policy & Representation team, our Advisers play a key role in this - providing data, themes and actionable insights relating to policy targets.
