Oxford SU Freshers’ Fair Entry Policy

The Oxford SU Freshers’ Fair is a fantastic opportunity to discover the many extracurricular activities Oxford University has to offer. It’s a chance to connect with fellow students, sign up for university clubs and societies, and find your community in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

The event is open to all current Oxford Students, and to help you make the most of your experience, we’ve provided the following guidelines.

Entry Policy – The Freshers Fair is open to all current Oxford University Students.

Bod Card Requirement - All students must present their Bodleian (Bod) card upon entry and at every point of re-entry to the venue. Please be sure to bring your Bod card and have it ready for inspection at the entrance.

Face Covering Policy - Face coverings worn for religious or medical reasons are permitted at this event. Students wearing face coverings will be required to briefly remove their mask for security entry checks, and private spaces will be provided if required for this. Should you require additional support or accommodation during security checks, please discuss your needs with the person conducting the checks.

Bag Checks - All bags will be subject to searches upon entry for security purposes. We would recommend that where possible, students do not bring bags with them in order to streamline the entry process. A number of free Oxford SU tote bags will be available to those who would like a bag to collect Freshers’ Fair freebies! The following non exhaustive list of items will not be allowed in the venue and will need to be disposed of at the entrance:

  • -Aerosol sprays, liquids, paints, or any similar substance (one water bottle per person is permitted)
  • -Mains-powered equipment
  • -Loud halers
  • -Balloons
  • -Guns, knives, swords, or any weapons, fake or otherwise
  • -Food and drink other than one water bottle
  • -Flyers, posters and other promotional materialss

Water Bottles - Students are welcome to bring their own water bottles into the venue. Water stations will be available inside the Fair for refills.

Quiet Hour - We have a designated quiet hour from 9am-10am on Wednesday 9th October for students who want to attend the fair at a time with reduced footfall and noise.

CCTV - Please note that CCTV will be in operation throughout this event.

Photography – Please be aware that filming and photography will be taking place throughout the duration of the Fair.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain an inclusive event for all students.
